12. Maryland Terrapins – 10-5 (1-3)

If you’re a Terrapin fan, it’s about time to press the panic button. They’ve now lost five straight games against power conference competition, including this disaster of the past week. They lost by 35 points on the road at Michigan, 81-46. They shot 27% from the field and not a single player got in double figures on offense. And despite knowing that Hunter Dickinson turns up every time he sees Maryland, they did nothing to stop him, allowing the big man to go off for 35 points.

The Terrapins tried to get back on track on Thursday, taking on Rutgers on the road. But the offensive deficiencies continued, scoring just 17 points in the first half. They never could get into the game, ultimately falling, 64-50. Jahmir Young had 13 points and Donald Carey had 12 off the bench but Donta Scott and Julian Reese, who each had a hot start to the season, had just 14 points combined in the loss.

Maryland comes back home to take on Ohio State, who may be without Zed Key, who got injured against Thursday on Purdue. Iowa and Michigan are up next after that, two other programs that have dealt with skids. It’ll be interesting to see if this team, who once was ranked 13th in the nation, can come back to be a threat in the Big Ten.
