NCAA Basketball: Kansas State, Providence on the rise on latest top 25 power ranking

Miami had been humming along nicely, churning out impressive wins along a 9-game winning streak until hitting a road bump this past week. There’s no doubt that the Hurricanes are one of the most talented and successful teams in this year’s ACC, but it’s clear that they’re still susceptible to some of the other teams in this league.
The evidence was an unfortunate road trip to Georgia Tech, which saw the Hurricanes fall 76-70 to the Yellow Jackets back on Wednesday. Jordan Miller and Norchad Omier both had 17 points, but the Hurricanes were an anemic 15% from long range and were outshot and outrebounded by a Yellow Jackets squad that finally gets their first great win of the year.
This abhorrent shooting performance does not undermine what the Hurricanes have done this season. At this point, Miami still looks like one of the certain favorites in this conference. They’ve already beaten Virginia and still sit an admirable 4-1 in league play. They’ll host Boston College next week before a tough road test at NC State; the Wolfpack just beat Duke on their home court this week after all. This would be a great week for a bounce back performance from the Hurricanes, especially before even tougher road trips in the coming weeks.
