5. How many bids will this conference get in the NCAA Tournament?

Bernstein

While the conference is starting to gain more recognition as one of the nation’s premier mid-major leagues, I believe just two teams will receive bids to the NCAA Tournament. I think we need to see an increase in the difficulty of non-conference schedules for a third program to make the big dance. The only other way I can see a third team make the bracket is if the field is extended from 68 to 90.

2. Dayton is locked in focused and playing at the level we expected in the preseason, all without two starters who are coming back. A dominant conference season gets them an at-large bid. After that, eight of the last nine regular season champions have failed to win the A-10 tournament.

I will say 2 so that I have something to believe in. I think Dayton is good enough to go 16-2 or whatever it would take for them to make it, and then I’ll take a team like UMass, Mason, or Davidson winning in Brooklyn.
