11. Maryland Terrapins – 11-6 (2-4)

Three road games in a four-game stretch proved to be too much for the Terrapins, losing all three away from home. And what’s been even more concerning is that they haven’t been competitive. They first lost by 35 points at Michigan, before following that up with a 64-50 defeat to Rutgers.

Maryland was able to beat then-No. 24 Ohio State, 80-73. Jahmir Young, who has been one of the few consistent players in league play for the team, went for 30 points and 11 rebounds on 8/18 shooting. All five starters were in double figures to join Young, including 10 points, eight rebounds, and three assists from Julian Reese.

Unfortunately for the team, they couldn’t go back on the road and win, falling 81-67 to Iowa. Young had another good game, scoring a team-high 20 points, while Donta Scott chipped in with 15 points and 11 rebounds. But allowing your opponent to shoot 60% from the field all game is going to lower your chances of winning.

Maryland now takes up two of the most difficult challenges in Big Ten Basketball. The first is at home against a Hunter Dickinson hellbent on dominating them whenever he plays the Terrapins, followed by Zach Edey and Purdue. Good luck to the team’s frontcourt this week.
