12. TCU Horned Frogs – 15-4 (4-3 Big 12)

Coming into the week, TCU had a pair of road games against the 2nd and 9th-place teams in the Big 12 in West Virginia and Kansas. On paper, it looked as if the Frogs would be okay with a split. That’s actually what happened but the opposite of what was expected.

Against West Virginia, TCU found itself behind early and often, trailing by 15 points at halftime. To their credit, they made a run in the second half to make it a competitive game that was anyone’s to win. But the Horned Frogs may have been tired by then because they couldn’t respond to a late Mountaineers push to win the game, 74-65. Mike Miles led the team with 21 points, while both Damion Baugh and Emanuel Miller had 13.

On the road at Kansas was supposed to be tough, considering that they’re coming off an overtime loss to Kansas State earlier in the week. But they seem to have come out flat, allowing TCU to take advantage and lead by double-digits throughout the game. They scored nearly 50 points at halftime and cruised to an 83-60 victory. The leading scorer of the game was actually Shahada Wells, who had 17 points in 21 points off the bench. The former leading scorer at UT-Arlington was injured last season and has been limited in minutes this year but could this be the start of the senior being a consistent part of the rotation?

We’ll see what Wells’ minutes look like this upcoming week, as TCU takes on Oklahoma and Mississippi State on the road in the Big 12/SEC Challenge.
