8. UCLA Bruins – 17-3 (8-1 Pac-12)

The Bruins have been on cruise control to start out Pac-12 play and had they pulled off the sweep against the Arizona schools, could all but lock up the conference regular season title. With maybe USC not being fully out of it, those are the only other teams with a realistic shot of knocking off UCLA.

Up first were the Sun Devils, who quietly have an impressive record to this point. They were leading the Bruins in the first half and were putting up a big fight. However, a huge run by UCLA in the second half put them out in front to get the 74-62 victory. Tyger Campbell had a fantastic game, going for 22 points, while David Singleton had 21 on 4/6 shooting from the field.

But the game of the week in both the Pac-12 and NCAA Basketball was UCLA’s trip to Arizona to take on the other ranked conference team in the Wildcats. It was anything other than a thriller, with neither team scoring 30 points by halftime. There wasn’t much scoring in the second half but the game was close toward the final minutes. This time, the Bruins lost, 58-52, for its first Pac-12 setback.

Tyger Campbell led the team with 13 points but on 5/18 shooting. Jaylen Clark and Jaime Jaquez each had double-doubles but in the end, UCLA missed out on a chance to have a commanding lead in the standings above Arizona. They look to rebound this upcoming week, taking on USC and Washington next.
