NCAA Basketball: Gonzaga, Kansas drops, Duke, UNC rises in latest top 25 power ranking
19. Miami Hurricanes – 15-4 (6-3 ACC)
The Hurricanes have been in a rut of sorts, having lost in overtime at NC State before this past week’s action. In their first game, Miami was trailing Syracuse for a good bit of the game and struggled to stop their shooting. But the veteran roster was able to make a comeback in the second half and prevailed late, 82-78.
Big man Norchad Omier was the star of the game, going for 16 points and 16 rebounds, seven of which came on the offensive end. Jordan Miller had 13 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists, while Nijel Pack had 15 points, all coming from three-point range.
Miami then had to travel to Duke this weekend in the biggest ACC matchup of the week. It was an evenly match game for all 40 minutes, as Pack, who has struggled in recent weeks, had a big early start and overall game. He had 18 points, while Miller had 19. Omier was one point shy of another double-double, but Wong was in single-digits again with seven points. Things went against the Hurricanes at the end to lose, 68-66.
Things don’t get any easier for Miami this upcoming week, going on the road to take on Florida State, who has improved greatly over the past few weeks, along with a Pittsburgh squad that’s 6-3 in ACC play. For a Hurricanes squad that is 2-3 in the past five games, this is an important week for them if they want to stay in the regular-season title hunt.
