18. College of Charleston – 21-1 (9-0 in CAA)

In the race to 20 wins, the Cougars are the winner for the 2022-23 NCAA Basketball season. They also are now the leader in most consecutive wins currently at 20 after losing to Virginia Tech to start out the season. To start out this week, Charleston took on William & Mary in a game that proved to be of little challenge. The final score was 82-54, led by 17 points from forward Ante Brzovic.

The next game was against Monmouth, who was 1-17 overall on the season. But Coach King Rice always has a big game up his sleeve and the Cougars found themselves trailing at the half by a few points. But a 17-point second-half differential allowed the CAA frontrunners to come back and win, 69-55. Reyne Smith was the star for Charleston, scoring a game-high 27 points on 7/10 shooting from deep.

The Cougars remained on the road, taking on Northeastern this weekend. This time around, it wasn’t an upset alert situation. College of Charleston took care of business for all 40 minutes, winning 87-61. The two leading scorers on the team came off the bench, with Ben Burham (15 points) and Pat Robinson (14) having nice contributions.

Charleston is back at home this week with just one game. But it’ll be a tough one, taking on the Hofstra Pride, who currently is tied for second in the CAA standings at 6-2.
