13. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – 8-11 (1-8)

A three-game homestand against the middle of ACC Basketball didn’t go well for the Yellow Jackets. Not only did they lose all three games but each defeat was by 10+ points. After losing to Pittsburgh, the team dealt with Syracuse and NC State, two teams that couldn’t afford a Quad 4 loss to Georgia Tech.

Against the Wolfpack, a close game at the half ended up going in the road team’s favor. The Yellow Jackets lost 78-66, with Jalon Moore (17 points and 8 rebounds) as the lone double-digit scorer for the team. Four others did have nine points, but Miles Kelly, the team’s leading scorer on the season, shot just 4/13 from the field and as a team, went 2/21 from three-point range.

Syracuse has an offense that comes and goes but they didn’t have much trouble against Georgia Tech, scoring 40 points in each half. The final score was 80-63, with Dallan Coleman scoring a team-high 17 points. Devion Smith had nine points and seven assists, while both Moore and Kelly were in double figures but on inefficient numbers.

The Yellow Jackets missed some chances for a win and now have to deal with two tougher opponents in Clemson on the road, followed by Duke at home. They’re two offenses that are better than the previous three so unless there are some serious defensive improvements by this team, expect the losing skid to extend to five.
