New Mexico Lobos

After back-to-back losses to Fresno State and UNLV, the Lobos have managed to bounce back to win four straight, with one of them being over San Diego State. This past week, the team got a nice 20-point win over San Jose State to help with the metrics, before beating a top-30 Boise State squad in overtime on Friday night, 81-79.

That’s a Quad 1 victory for New Mexico, making it their third on the season and a combined 5-0 in Quad 1 and 2 games. The two Quad 3 defeats are what’s holding them back a bit but the Lobos are still in strong shape but now have to avoid a couple of future landmines in Nevada on the road, followed by Air Force at home.

TCU Horned Frogs

It was a split week for the Frogs on the road but a Quad 1 loss and a Quad 1 win certainly don’t hurt the Frogs. More importantly, the win came at Kansas and is one of the best victories anyone will have on its resume. That puts them at 7-3 combined versus Quad 1 and 2 opponents on the season and helps erase the early Quad 4 setback to Northwestern State.

TCU has a top-20 NET ranking and has a stretch of four “winnable” games. This week alone, they have Oklahoma and Mississippi State in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. The Bulldogs are inside the top 75 so a road victory over them would count as another Quad 1 win as well.
