NCAA Basketball: Antoine Davis, Trayce Jackson Davis headline Players of the Week
By Bryan Mauro
Power conference Player of the Week – Trayce Jackson Davis
I watched Trayce Jackson-Davis and Oscar Tshibwe play last week and as dominant as Tshibwe was, he was as dominant as I have seen. Being a Big Ten basketball fan I watch a lot of Jackson Davis and there have always been points when he could take over a game and does so often. Jackson-Davis is one of the best players to ever wear the Hoosier colors and I have always wondered why he has never given the NBA its proper due. Most of that is my fandom and me wishing he was out of the Big Ten, but NCAA Basketball is better with him.
Indiana was in desperate need of the week that their star provided. The Hoosiers were going through some injury troubles and had a three-game losing streak. During that losing streak, Indiana was trying to find something to get them some wins. Jackson-Davis went into beast mode and took over two games. Michigan State is one of the best defensive teams in the country and the big man dominated them inside. There is not much he can’t do on the offensive end.
Jackson Davis has already had a triple-double this season and has been playing at another level over the last month. Indiana is in good hands with Jackson Davis and as long as he continues to play at this level the Hoosiers are going to be tough out the rest of the season.
Indiana is starting to get healthy and when they are able to spread the floor with their shooters and the big man roaming the middle they are very difficult. The big man is likely going to find himself on the list over the rest of the season a lot.
