Bracketology 2023: Creighton, West Virginia and Baylor among week’s big winners

Missouri
Just a month ago, Missouri was a hot commodity, with big wins over Illinois and Kentucky and an impressive record going into conference play. They’ve found themselves bruised and battered by some of their SEC foes in recent weeks, including a 21-point loss at Alabama just last weekend. However, the Tigers righted the ship this week in a major way.
Firstly, the Tigers won their first road conference game on Tuesday night, heading to Oxford and leaving with an 89-77 win over Ole Miss. D’Moi Hodge had 24 points, Isiaih Mosley had 20 points and Kobe Brown added 18 points, with strong guard play keying the win. The main event came over the weekend, with Missouri dropping #12 Iowa State in a 78-61 win as part of the Big 12/SEC Challenge. Brown was fantastic, leading the upset with his 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers.
A bit of a question mark in Dennis Gates’ first season in Columbia, but the Tigers are trending back in the right direction again. This team now has three pretty remarkable wins on the resume, and could be playing their way into an 8-seed or higher at the moment. Missouri shot the ball extremely well this week (30 of 60 from long range), and is going to need these kinds of offensive performances to continue when they need them most.
