10. Maryland Terrapins – 14-7 (5-5)

There was a point a month ago when the Terrapins went from a top-15 team in the country to a complete afterthought in Big Ten Basketball and firmly on the bubble. But to their credit, Maryland has been playing much better as of late, including winning 3 of the last 4 games. The lone defeat was by three points at Purdue, despite shooting awful all game.

Last week against Wisconsin, Maryland took what was a close matchup at the half into a 20-point lead at the end, winning 73-55. Jahmir Young had another big game for the team, going for 22 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. He got plenty of help this time around, with Donta Scott and Julian Reese each scoring 14 points, while Hakim Hart had 13 points and eight assists.

This past weekend, the Terrapins took care of business against Nebraska without much issue, winning 82-63. Young once again filled up the stat sheet, this time with 18 points, seven assists, and six steals. Donald Carey had 16 points, while forward Patrick Emilien chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench.

Maryland took care of business at home and gets one more this week against a surging Indiana. After that is a tough road game at Minnesota. Not because the Gophers are very good but because it’s a game with nothing to gain but everything to lose from a Bracketology perspective.
