Final verdict

Not to undermine the point of this analysis, but Selection Sunday isn’t particularly soon. USC has plenty of time to lock up a bid (and plenty of time to undo the positive momentum they have right now).

That being said, if the NCAA Tournament started tomorrow, the Trojans would be in. They may even be a step above the bubble discussion that has encompassed them all season long.

Take a look at Bart Torvik, for instance. When comparing resumes dating back to 2010, every team with a comparable resume found itself in the Big Dance. The 11- and 12-seeds that made it earned automatic bids, but the teams that were selected were all 9-seeds or better.

In our latest bracketology, the Trojans were a 9-seed.

That being said, USC’s resume is highly reliant on that win over the Bruins, so the Trojans need to keep winning. Close wins over BYU and Auburn are the only two impressive victories Enfield’s team grabbed in the non-conference portion of its schedule.

USC doesn’t rank particularly well in any of the major stats, including scoring, assists, and rebounding. But they are still exciting to watch, led by the dynamic duo of Boogie Ellis and Drew Peterson. This team could definitely surprise in the NCAA Tournament.

Next. 10 teams that won't win the title. dark

The Trojans haven’t been on the bubble in some time, easily qualifying for the last two NCAA Tournaments. It’s an uncomfortable place to be, but at the moment, USC doesn’t have much reason to worry unless they start suffering catastrophic defeats.
