4. Jett Howard, Michigan

Stats: 30.5 MPG, 14.9 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 44% FG

The son of Michigan head man Juwan Howard, Jett was a highly touted freshman who has not disappointed in 20 games of action for the Wolverines. At 6’8″ with a nice touch around the rim, he’s proven to be a premier isolation scorer and decent spot-up shooter, averaging nearly 15 points per game. He’s done so while shooting nice percentages from every area on the floor and keeping his turnovers to just 1.3 per contest. After leaving the Minnesota game early due to a nasty rolled ankle, Jett responded in a major way last time out against Penn State, when he went for 21 points in a losing effort.

3. Fletcher Loyer, Purdue

Stats: 29.0 MPG, 12.4 PPG, 2.5 APG, 39% FG

Zach Edey may be receiving all the Player of the Year attention at the moment, but it’s the freshman-led backcourt that has been the fuel to Purdue’s tremendous start in 2022-2023. While Braden Smith is the primary ball-handler, Fletcher Loyer has taken on the scoring load, averaging 12.4 PPG and shooting 39% from the field. Nebraska fans in particular must fear the Indiana native, as he went for 22 and 27 in both victories against the Cornhuskers, including hitting six threes in the most recent matchup.
