TCU Horned Frogs

This is a team that has battled injuries all year but losing star guard Mike Miles for an extended period of time has killed all the momentum they were building up in Big 12 play. Ever since he got hurt in the matchup with Mississippi State, they’ve lost 4 of 5 games, with the lone victory coming against West Virginia at home.

They were on the road at Kansas State, which was close until the final five minutes when TCU fell apart defensively. The final score was 82-61, with Damion Baugh leading the way with 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

The next game was at home versus Baylor, another Quad 1 matchup. It was another close game at home but the Horned Frogs just didn’t have enough without Miles, losing 72-68. To be clear, these aren’t bad losses at all and they’re still likely to get a top 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament. But before the Big 12/SEC Challenge, TCU was playing some of the best basketball in the country and was making a case for a 1 seed had they won the regular-season title.

Instead, that’s all but over for the Frogs now and they’re in danger of continuing to slide if Miles remains out. It’s a rough week but they’ve shown to be competitive overall, even without their best player. Iowa State and Oklahoma State are up next and they need to get at least one win to regain some momentum.
