Florida Gators

This was a week that barring anything unexpected was supposed to be a split for the Gators. They had Alabama on the road, one of the best teams in the SEC followed by a home battle with Vanderbilt, one of the worst in the league as well.

First was the Crimson Tide, a game that was never close. The Gators gave up 52 points in the first half in what ended up being a 97-69 blowout loss. Colin Castleton had 29 points and 10 rebounds but most of them were essentially in garbage time.

Florida then went back home to take on Vanderbilt, who quietly has been playing well as of late. The Commodores ended up giving the Gators a bad loss, with an 88-80 final score. It’s the first Quad 3 loss for them, which is really bad considering that was the strength of their resume. They’re 2-9 against Quad 1 opponents and that is just as bad as a Quad 4 setback to this point.

Florida now has to find a way to get a Quad 1 win soon and has a road opportunity at Arkansas this weekend. But first, they have to get past Mississippi at home and as Vandy just proved, that’s not a sure thing.
