How long has it been since the UConn Women lost two consecutive games?

Sticking with the Women and perhaps a team that is much more familiar to many are the UConn Huskies. They have been and always will be the class of the Women’s game. They have clout, their name holds weight and everyone wants to get a piece of the Lady Huskies because the win is going to mean something to your program. The record most recently set by UConn is not a positive one though even though head coach Geno Auriemma has his fair share of those records.

The Lady Huskies have done a ton of winning as they have the two longest winning streaks in the history of the game with a 90-game winning streak spanning 2008-2011. Then 5 years later the Huskies started a new streak when they won an eye-popping 111 games in a row from 2016-2018. To put that in perspective the most wins on the Men’s side is 88 games in a row. Last season the Villanova Wildcats put an end to the 145-game conference winning streak that UConn experienced. So when we say they are the standard of Women’s hoops, we mean it and the bar is high for success when comparing yourself to UConn.

Now to the record which also is extremely impressive. Exactly 364 days from their record 145-game conference winning streak coming to an end the Huskies lost consecutive games for the first time since 1993. Yes, the UConn Women have not lost consecutive basketball games for 30 years. There really is not much else to say about that other than reading the line over and over again. The Huskies had not lost consecutive basketball games in 30 years. That is what happens when your program does all that winning.

So once again even when losing games the UConn Women are still setting records that will never be broken. No other team will ever experience that kind of success. Never change UConn please continue to dominate and keep all of us in awe with the number of insurmountable things the program can do.
