ACC Basketball power rankings: Dukes falls down, NC State and Pittsburgh moves up
5. Clemson Tigers – 18-7 (10-4)
After back-to-back losses to both Boston College and Miami the week prior, the Tigers went from first in the ACC to literally on the bubble, either among the last teams projected to be in or one of the first ones out. It’s a tough situation to be near the top of the standings and still has work to do but they did have a Quad 1 opportunity on the road at North Carolina.
Unfortunately, the Tigers got off to a rough start, down double-digits early. It was a deficit they never could recover from, losing 91-71. PJ Hall had 18 points on 7/13 shooting, while Chase Hunter had 15 points and four assists. Hunter Tyson, who has been good just about every single game for them, was limited to just a season-low three points in 32 minutes played.
With a three-game losing streak, Clemson will have to find a way to bounce back and remain on the right side of the bubble. The good news for them is that they take on two of the worst teams in the ACC, with Florida State at home and Louisville on the road. If they can’t go 2-0 this week, the Tigers will be in some extreme trouble.
