14. Notre Dame Fighting Irish – 10-15 (2-12)

Head coach Mike Brey made some headlines on Monday, saying that he isn’t retiring after this season despite being set to leave Notre Dame. Based on the results, he was going to be on the hot seat anyways because they’re having one of their worst seasons in decades.

Last week started with a game against Georgia Tech, who just came off being the team to give Louisville its first ACC Basketball win. But the game between these two went to overtime last time and this one also went down to the final minute. But Notre Dame was the loser this time, falling 70-68. All five starters were in double figures, led by 16 points from Nate Laszewski.

At home against Virginia Tech, the Irish were in another close call, with this game becoming a shootout. Laszewski tied his season-high with 33 points on 12/17 shooting, along with 6/9 from three-point range. But unfortunately for them, they lost 93-87 to extend the losing streak to three games.

The loss to Georgia Tech was enough to slide them down to the No. 14 spot in the rankings but at least they’ve been competitive as of late. That’ll be tested this upcoming week, with road matchups at both Duke and Virginia.
