ACC Basketball power rankings: Dukes falls down, NC State and Pittsburgh moves up

13. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – 9-16 (2-13)

After losing to Louisville the week prior, the Yellow Jackets were dead last in ACC power rankings and put head coach Josh Paster clearly on the hot seat. The good news for them is that they faced the only other team that’s in the bottom tier with them in Notre Dame.

It was a close game like last time around that went down to the final possessions. But Georgia Tech was able to keep the battle at their pace and point level long enough to squeak out with the 70-68. Lance Terry led all scorers with 19 points, while Javon Franklin chipped in with 16 points and nine rebounds.

The Yellow Jackets then went on the road and dealt with Wake Forest, a team that’s barely on the bubble. But the underdogs were determined to end those hopes once and for all, leading them at the half and making it a game all the way until the end. But a par of free throws at the last seconds took the win away from Tech, losing 71-70. Franklin had 14 points and 15 rebounds on the night, while Deivon Smith led the way with 16 points off the bench.

Georgia Tech has just one ACC Basketball game this week, taking on Virginia Tech at home. If the Hokies do have any at-large hopes left, it would be done if the Yellow Jackets get the home win.
