Bobby Hurley – Arizona State Sun Devils

The Hurley era at Arizona State has been a complete roller-coaster in his 7.5 seasons. The first two went under .500, with the next three being 20+ win seasons and NCAA Tournament-caliber campaigns. But a combined 25-31 record in the last two years put him back on the hot seat. And just this year alone has gone from being ranked and safely into the field to now on the bubble after a recent 5 losses out of 6 games.

That’s all to say that anything can happen in the next month. The Sun Devils can make the NCAA Tournament and he can stick around, or miss out and Hurley gets fired. There’s a third option and that’s him leaving on his own to find another open power conference job.

Hurley may be known for his sideline antics at times but he’s gotten the job done in the Pac-12. And with USC and UCLA set to move to the Big Ten in over a year, plus rumors that Arizona State could go to the Big 12 if another set of realignment moves are made, there are some stability questions with the basketball program.

Ultimately, there’s a lot that can happen with Coach Hurley in the next month and nothing will be a big surprise. This is a coach and a program to watch because depending on what happens, could start off a domino of decisions.
