ACC Basketball power rankings: Duke, NC State rises, Pittsburgh and Clemson drops
13. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – 11-16 (3-13)
Keeping up with the theme of the bottom of ACC Basketball becoming threats, Georgia Tech has now won 3 of 4 games, with the lone loss coming on the road by one point at Wake Forest. They went 2-0 this week, including a non-conference game against a non-D-1 opponent.
First was Virginia Tech, whose life on the bubble was hanging on by a thread. The Yellow Jackets may have pulled the plug on that, winning an upset at home, 77-70. It was the best offensive performance for them in league play, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Sophomore Dallan Coleman led the team with 21 points on 6/10 shooting, while Javon Franklin had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Because they were the odd team out on the weekend schedule, Georgia Tech hosted Florida Tech on Saturday. The game went as expected, with the Yellow Jackets coasting to a 79-56 win. Lance Terry led the team with 19 points, while Franklin had another double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. Jalen Moore had a big game off the bench as well with 15 points in 26 minutes played.
Georgia Tech looks to continue its winning ways this week, starting with a road battle at Pittsburgh after losing to them by 11 points at home. They then have another shot at revenge, this time at home against Louisville in a game that has seeding implications at the bottom of the bracket.
