10. Desi-Rae Young – UNLV Runnin Rebels

2022-23 season stats: 18.1 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 2.3 apg

The UNLV Women’s Basketball team has won 25+ games back-to-back for the first time since 1990, thanks to the 6’1 star center. She leads them in four of the five main stat categories, including steals and blocks. Young has had at least eight points in every game, including 14 double-doubles on the season.

Her best game came arguably on the road with 25 points and 18 rebounds against Fresno State. The Rebels are currently 25-2 on the season and in first place in the Mountain West and is currently ranked in the top 25. With five games clear in the rest of the standings and unbeaten, Young’s impact has been clear among the mid-majors.

9. Aaliyah Edwards – UConn Huskies

2022-23 season stats: 16.2 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.6 rpg

Without either Bueckers or Azzi Fudd for most of the year, several players have stepped up for UConn and could’ve all made the case. But the most consistent of the bunch is Edwards, a 6’3 power forward that leads the team in scoring. When the Huskies have won against the top opponents, she’s been the star of the game.

Edwards had 25 points and 23 rebounds in a road win over Creighton, 25 points in a road win over Tennessee, and 13 points and 14 rebounds in a win against Villanova. They’ll drop out of the top-5 after a loss to St. John’s but are still a national threat, thanks to the breakout junior forward.
