4. Caitlyn Clark – Iowa Hawkeyes

2022-23 stats: 27.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 8.1 apg

Ever since to arrived to NCAA Basketball, Clark has been one of the best players, men or women, in the country. She’s averaging 27 ppg in her career in three seasons and this year alone, is third nationally in scoring. The 6’0 guard also has three triple-doubles on the year, with nine total in Clark’s career, good for second of all time.

Clark has scorer 14+ points in every game this season, including 45 points on 16/28 shooting in a win over NC State. She dropped 42 points on 6/11 shooting from deep against Maryland and dropped 15 assists in one of her triple-doubles versus Ohio State. The only thing that hurts her is that the Hawkeyes are third in the Big Ten and 22-6 overall but it wouldn’t be a shock if Clark wins the award, as her overall numbers are historically great.

3. Maddy Siegrist – Villanova Wildcats

2022-23 stats: 29.1 ppg, 9.4 rpg, 1.4 apg

There’s only one player in NCAA Basketball, both on the men’s and women’s side with a 50-point game this season and that’s the nation’s leading scorer at Villanova. Siegrist dropped 50 points and 10 rebounds against Seton Hall on 20/26 shooting and 4/6 from three-point range. The 6’1 forward has scored at least 21 points in every single game this year, including 11 of at least 30 points.

There’s no explaining how great Siegrist is offensively. The ONLY thing that may hold her back in this Player of the Year race is that they’re 24-5 and 15-3 in Big East play, which is still great but the players on the No. 1 and 2 spots have a combined one loss overall. And it’s a slight knock but she and the Wildcats did lose twice to UConn. But with such a high bar among the top tier of candidates, that does stand out.
