Bracketology 2023: Complete Bubble Watch before final weekend of regular season

North Carolina: 19-11 (11-8 in ACC) NET: 44
The plight of North Carolina has already been well-advertised this season. The Tar Heels advanced to the national title game last season before falling to Kansas, brought back a significant amount of that talent, and were the preseason #1 team in the nation. What’s transpired has been a series of disappointments that have left the Tar Heels on the bubble with the season quickly ending.
The trouble is that North Carolina is just 1-8 in Quad 1 games, with that lone victory coming a week ago against Virginia at home. The fact that the ACC is having a down year (thanks in large part to the Tar Heels) doesn’t help their case. The Tar Heels lost three straight tough nonconference games and have been battered in ACC play, getting swept by Pittsburgh, and dropping winnable games against Wake Forest and a few other teams.
Senior night against Duke is another chance for a big win, and that second Quad 1 win would be a major step forward. The Tar Heels are one of the last teams out of the Tournament right now and you better believe that they’ll need to at least beast Duke or make a serious run at the ACC Tournament. It’s crazy that the Tar Heels are in this position, but they need to make waves in that conference tournament to even make the field, with the team likely heading to the First Four if they even get there.
