Memphis: 23-7 (13-4 in AAC) NET: 37

Houston has been elite all season long, but Memphis hasn’t exactly been bad themselves in the AAC this year. The Tigers are the only hope for a multi-bid AAC but do sit in pretty good shape at this point. Their NET could be better but they have a couple of Quad 1 wins and still have an opportunity for more in the next week and a half.

Memphis got nice wins over Auburn and Texas A&M back in December and came very close to upending Alabama on the road as well. Getting swept by Tulane was not great, and their double overtime loss against UCF stings, but this resume is still in good shape. Penny Hardaway’s squad has won 11 of their last 13 games and has won six total games against power conference teams this year.

That remaining opportunity comes on Sunday against Houston, and an upset win would almost certainly secure the Tigers in the NCAA Tournament field. They are probably safely in the field right now, but a poor performance in the AAC Tournament is the one thing they have to avoid. The bottom line is that Memphis looks like an NCAA Tournament team and their metrics are in pretty good shape. Expect a 2-bid AAC.
