Oklahoma State Cowboys

The Cowboys are in a similar situation as West Virginia as the bottom of the eight at-large contenders in the Big 12. But it’s for different reasons; as the Cowboys went 8-10 in league play, which is easily the best conference in college basketball, should’ve been enough for a bid.

But OK State mostly feasted on the bottom half of the Big 12, lacking in signature victories. They also have a loss to Southern Illinois, which qualifies as a Quad 3 setback. They’re a combined 9-13 against Quad 1/2 competition and even though six are Quad 1, that’s still a rough record overall.

The Cowboys took on Oklahoma in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament, a game that ended up being a defensive slugfest. But OK State led the entire time and pulled out the 57-49 victory, led by 15 points from Caleb Asberry. It’s a Quad 2 win and avoiding a loss to the worst team in the conference.

This wasn’t a win that locks up the Cowboys but definitely moves them in a good direction and if they can beat Texas, will 100% lock them into the field of 68. But beating Oklahoma, along with a couple of other favorable things happening on the bubble, should have them in.
