Why is Sam Houston ranked in the top ten of these power rankings: What separates Sam Houston from many mid-major teams is that the Bearkats have two road victories over power five conference teams. Sam Houston on the road defeated Oklahoma and Utah this season and played a tough non-conference schedule playing Oklahoma State and Nevada on the road as well which has helped the Bearkats have a top 50 RPI ranking. Sam Houston only lost one game at home this season and has won 13 of their last 15 games.
