68. Tobin Anderson – Fairleigh Dickinson

0 NCAA Tournaments

While Fairleigh Dickinson technically qualified for the NCAA Tournament on a technicality, with Merrimack ineligible after winning the NEC Tournament, it’s still a fantastic accomplishment for Anderson in his first year as a D1 head coach. He had been a head coach at lower levels, taking St. Thomas Aquinas to a slew of success in the D2 Tournament, but his initial turnaround with the Knights has been impressive after this team was just 4-22 last year.

67. Kenny Blakeney – Howard

0 NCAA Tournaments

Blakeney played at Duke under Coach K in the 90’s and has really bounced around in his coaching career, spending time on the staffs of Seton Hall, Harvard, Marshall, and a few other D1 schools. His first head coaching work has come here at Howard and he’s led the Bison to a breakthrough. His first few seasons were really rough, but Blakeney just led the Bison to the MEAC Tournament title and their first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 31 years.

66. Brad Korn – Southeast Missouri State

0 NCAA Tournaments

A former player and assistant under Bruce Weber at multiple schools, Korn’s first head coaching job is trending in a great direction, leading Southeast Missouri State to their first NCAA Tournament in 23 years. He led the RedHawks to an exciting OVC Tournament championship and has seen his win total increase in each of his three seasons at the helm, getting the job done as the 5-seed in the conference; their first finish above .500 in conference play in six years.

65. Amir Abdur-Rahim – Kennesaw State

0 NCAA Tournaments

Abdur-Rahim took over at Kennesaw State just four years and went just 1-28 in his first season with the Owls. The turnaround has been dramatic for the longtime former D1 assistant, leading the Owls to 26 wins, and both the regular season and tournament titles in the Atlantic Sun for the first time. Kennesaw State is in the Big Dance for the first time and Abdur-Rahim’s work has been as impressive as at any lowly mid-major program in recent years.
