NCAA Tournament 2023: Power ranking of top 100 players overall from the field

40. Ajay Mitchell – UC Santa Barbara
Mitchell is no ordinary sophomore point guard. Not only did he put up 16.4 points and 5.1 assists per game this year (leading the Big West in assists), but he was named both Big West Player of the Year and Tournament MVP for his great play. Mitchell surpassed 20 points in all three tournament games and has a major presence on the basketball court in all aspects of the game.
39. Boo Buie – Northwestern
An important presence for the Wildcats, Buie is a senior point guard who’s been a starter basically since the beginning but has really blossomed this season. He’s led the Wildcats back to the NCAA Tournament and averaged 17.1 points and 4.5 assists per game for this upstart crew. Buie earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors, led the conference in free throw percentage, and recently showed his star power with a 35-point effort against Illinois.
38. Tucker DeVries – Drake
The MVC Player of the Year, DeVries’ career has already taken off as a sophomore and he’s off to the Big Dance for the first time with the Bulldogs. He averaged 19.0 points and 5.6 rebounds a game, emerging as one of the best mid-major scorers in the nation. DeVries scored 22 points in the MVC title game win over Bradley and has been the young lightning rod for a Bulldogs team full of experience.
37. LJ Cryer – Baylor
A national champion as a bench player two years ago, Cryer has really broken out in his first year as a starter and is a major part of that elite Baylor backcourt. This season, he’s averaged 14.5 points a game and shot 43% from long-range, with those 3-point numbers topping the Big 12 and earning him Third Team honors in the conference.
36. Jarkel Joiner – NC State
Joiner has been an impressive performer with the Wolfpack after two years apiece at Cal State Bakersfield and Ole Miss to begin his career. This year, Joiner averaged 17.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists, emerging as top-level combo guard in the ACC, which earned him Second Team honors. Down the stretch, Joiner scored at least 26 points in four of NC State’s final eight games and is ready for his March Madness moment.
