Eight is Great

Eight seasons in a row, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have made the sweet 16 8 times in a row.  That is the longest streak in the country and even when Gonzaga doesn’t have one of their vintage teams, they are still extremely consistent and win in the tournament.  Advancing to the round of 16 has not been an easy road for the Bulldogs.  They have had comebacks in each game before finally pulling away and winning the game.

In game one against the Grand Canyon Antelopes, the Lopes came out firing and made a ton of shots and played their brand of havoc defense in the first half to fluster Gonzaga.  Then it was a 16-0 run which finally put the game on ice for the Bulldogs and allowed them to advance to the second round.  In the second round, the Bulldogs had a matchup problem with the TCU Horned Frogs and the Horned Frogs came out and exploited those matchups.  It took a few well-timed threes and another run to finally put away the Horned Frogs.

The Gonzaga program has turned into one of the blue blood programs and even though people will try to tell you they are not battle tested because they play in the West Coast Conference is a wrong take.  The numbers and the wins tell a different story.  Gonzaga is a program that a lot of programs wish they were.   No matter the roster, no matter the seed line the Bulldogs are going to find themselves in the second weekend and are always a threat to make the final four.   This season is no different and the dominance in the tournament will continue for years to come.
