NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Western Kentucky transfer Dayvion McKnight
NC State Wolfpack
The Wolfpack has one of the best backcourts in NCAA Basketball this season but there’s going to be some changes. Terquavion Smith is highly expected to enter the NBA Draft as a projected first-round pick, while Jarkel Joiner, who came on as of late to get an All-ACC spot, has no more eligibility left. There’s also double-digit scorer Casey Morsell, who could come back for one more year if he chooses to.
Regardless, look for NC State to try to get a ready-made transfer that can come in and take over the offense. McKnight has a similar skillset to Smith so it wouldn’t be a major asjustment on both sides for this potential pairing.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
The Cowboys barely missed out on the NCAA Tournament this season, mainly due to having the worst offense in the Big 12. The lack of scoring firepower played a large reason as to why they couldn’t beat the top teams in the conference. They’re also set to lose starting guard John-Michael Wright and potentially Avery Anderson this offseason from the backcourt.
OK State will be looking for more firepower from the portal and McKnight is one of the top options out there. And unlike Wright, he won’t be overly reliant on three-pointers for most of his scoring. That’ll help break down the many quality defenses out in the Big 12 next season.
