NCAA Basketball: 10 teams that should target UNC transfer Caleb Love
Arizona State Sun Devils
It was a big year for Coach Bobby Hurley and the Sun Devils. He was on the hot seat entering the season but they barely made the NCAA Tournament and won a play-in game. The Coach received an extension and isn’t going anywhere but now needs to reload the roster.
The team already is without Desmond Cambridge (eligibility) and DJ Horne (transfer portal), the two top scorers and lone double-digit producers on the roster. It’s very unlikely that Marcus Bagley would be back after being banished from the team early in the year. That leaves point guard Frankie Collins and senior wing, Devan Cambridge as key returners.
Love could easily slide in at the two-spot and provide Arizona State with a needed go-to scorer. And while Collins isn’t the same kind of scorer as RJ Davis, he’s a better facilitator. That gives both players clear defined roles on the offense, which could be of help to Love.
Playing in the Pac-12 for a year wouldn’t be a big deal, as long as the Sun Devils are in the mix for a postseason bid. And playing in Tempe, Arizona has its benefits. Coach Hurley usually lets his guards play loose as well so it wouldn’t be much of a stylistic change.
