Texas Longhorns

The biggest NCAA Basketball storyline to watch in the past month was whether or not Texas interim head coach Rodney Terry would get the full-time job or not. That decision would’ve had a major impact on both the current the future players on the roster.

Now that it’s decided that Coach Terry is the permanent leader for the program, they can work out the roster. Leading scorers, Marcus Carr and Sir’Jabari Rice are moving on, while Tyrese Hunter is an NBA Draft candidate. The team does have top-30 incoming point guard, AJ Johnson joining next season and Arterio Morris could come back for another year.

Still, that’s a lot of unproven talent in a Big 12 set to get even better next season, thanks to Houston being one of the four teams arriving. And let’s face it, Coach Terry is going to have a lot of pressure on him because he went to the Elite 8 with “Coach Chris Beard’s players”. He needs a good year next season to remove that stigma.

Love is similar to Marcus Carr, who had similar inefficency issues as a lead guard until this past season. Maybe going to Texas could help the former UNC guard in the same way? He’d be a lead guard that can compete in the Big 12 and give the roster a veteran leader as well.
