Missouri

Since arriving in Columbia last offseason, head coach Dennis Gates has been one of the kings of the Transfer Portal, rebuilding this Missouri roster using that resource and getting them to the NCAA Tournament in year one. Heading to a third SEC school would be quite the maneuver but Wheeler could play a vital role in one last season, this time with the Tigers.

While the Tigers have already added to their backcourt in the Transfer Portal, picking up former Colorado State guard John Tonje earlier Monday, they’ll certainly be in the market for more additions, with the statuses of guards like Sean East and Isiaih Mosley still up in the air. What Missouri really needed in their offense was someone to run the point and Wheeler would be a fantastic addition for the year, especially where he’s surrounded with a ton of talent.

Oklahoma State

Two seasons ago, Oklahoma State was one of the final schools that Wheeler was considering after transferring from Georgia, but could they land him this time around? The Cowboys haven’t made the NCAA Tournament the last two seasons, but adding a veteran presence like Wheeler could get them over the top in the end.

Avery Anderson has basically filled the role Wheeler would’ve had at Oklahoma State, but Anderson was out with a wrist injury and wasn’t as effective as a senior last season. There’s certainly a role for Wheeler with Mike Boynton’s rotation, but you have to wonder if he wants to play for a team expected to finish closer to the bottom of the Big 12. However, he’d likely have a major role with the Cowboys, especially with uncertainty in that backcourt.
