NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Oregon transfer center Kel’el Ware
Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners didn’t make the NCAA Tournament due to a lack of firepower and that’s going to be an even bigger issue if they don’t add a few new players. They lose one of their best players on the team in Tanner Groves, who was their starting center. The only other true center on the roster is Luke Northweather, while Yaya Keita and Sam Goodwin are reserves in the frontcourt.
In their last season in the Big 12, Ware is someone they could use. He’d be a focal point in the offense next to Grant Sherfield and he’d play for a head coach in Porter Moser that can develop him to a high level. He’d arguably be the best athlete Coach Moser has ever recruited as well.
TCU Horned Frogs
When Eddie Lampkin transferred out before the NCAA Tournament, the center position became a glaring hole, one that Drew Timme and Gonzaga took advantage of. Souleymane Doumbia and JaKobe Coles just weren’t good enough to hold down the five-spot so expect the program to try and find Lampkin’s replacement.
With Mike Miles off to the NBA, TCU is going to need a big man that can contribute offensively. As we saw in November, Ware is capable of being that kind of scorer. Coach Jamie Dixon could use someone with high-end potential that could be a breakout star as a sophomore. Depending on who else leaves the Frogs, they will need that from Ware.
