NCAA Basketball: 8 teams that should target Washington State transfer TJ Bamba
Texas Longhorns
Coach Rodney Terry is the full-time head coach now, which allows him to fully recruit the next set of Longhorns. Marcus Carr is gone, along with 6th Man of the Year, Sir’Jabari Rice. That does leave a few guards on the roster but they’re all ball-handlers. Arterio Morris, Rowan Brumbaugh, and Tyrese Hunter are more point guards than two-guards, which is a need this offseason.
While Bamba doesn’t have direct ties to Coach Terry and Texas, it’s a massive platform for the former Cougar. He very well could start at the two-spot for the team and give them a 15 ppg scorer and would pair well with Hunter, who could play more on-ball next year.
Xavier Musketeers
The Musketeers are losing its top three guards this season, including Souley Boum and sharpshooter Adam Kunkel. A few underclassmen guards are coming in, including top-100 freshman, Reid Ducharme. Yet expect Coach Sean Miller to look for a couple of veteran backcourt players that can play right away.
Coach Miller is a former Pac-12 head coach and still has west coach ties. It wouldn’t be hard to convince Bamba to come back east and play for a program just coming off a Sweet 16 appearance. And unlike St. John’s, which may have a crowded backcourt, Xavier, at the moment, is wide open for a big role.
