10. Micah Shrewsberry – Notre Dame

Shrewsberry is a native of Indianapolis who has spent much of his playing and coaching career in his home state. He was briefly head coach at IU South Bend and he had stints under both Matt Painter at Purdue and Brad Stevens with Butler and the Boston Celtics, along for the ride of both of Butler’s trips to the national title game. Shrewsberry spent the last two seasons doing incredible work at Penn State but starts a new adventure this upcoming season.

Another major change in this conference was the big change at Notre Dame, with Mike Brey out after 23 years with the Fighting Irish and Shrewsberry taking the job. After what Penn State accomplished last season, there are a lot of reasons to love Shrewsberry in this role. Penn State made its first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 12 years and won its opening-round game in the Big Dance. Shrewsberry has had just two years as a D1 head coach, but he’s now back in his home state of Indiana.

After showing he could win at Penn State of all places, the stock for Shrewsberry is pretty high. Back in his home state, is there any reason to think he can’t win big games in the ACC in the years to come? After all, he did impressive work at what’s possibly the weakest basketball program in the Big Ten. We’ll just have to see what the future holds for the Fighting Irish, but he’s the incoming head coach with the highest stock.
