Outlook for Big East?

The Big East is finally going to have a Blue Blood. That was what separated them from the rest of the power conferences. The Big Ten has Indiana, Big Twelve has Kansas, ACC has Duke and North Carolina, SEC has Kentucky, Pac 12 currently has UCLA. UCLA is going to be a member of the Big Ten when next basketball season starts. The Big East now has UConn. That will put the conference right into the power conference conversation. I already put them in the conversation, but I do know that many did not. Now that the Big East has its Blue Blood the rest of the conference is going to get better as a result.

Every single team in the Big East is now going to try and catch the Huskies. Connecticut is going to have a ton of positive momentum from their latest championship and their newfound Blue Blood status that they are going to be on top of the league for a long time. Every team is going to work on catching them and hopefully have the same success as the Huskies have over the next 25 years. Recruiting will improve, scheduling will improve, the TV market will improve, and overall, the conference will make more money and get more exposure. It doesn’t seem like it now but UConn as a Blue Blood is a great thing for the Big East everything will improve.

The Big East was already well on its way to being the best conference in the NCAA even before the Huskies had won a title. Marquette and Creighton should return most of their teams which will likely both be top 15 rated teams. Georgetown made the right hire and looks to get back to being the premier program in the DC Area. Providence has improved its roster under new coach Kim English. St. John’s hired Rick Pitino, and Xavier and Villanova should remain consistent and always push for an NCAA tournament. The conference is trending up in a big way and now that they are the home to one of the premier programs in all of college basketball it is only going to continue to get better.

I have made the case for Connecticut and their Blue Blood status. As was mentioned it is going to be up to you the fans to recognize them if you want to. I am going to start including them in the conversations simply because the resume speaks for itself. 5 titles in 25 years are an accomplishment not many can replicate. Do you think that UConn is a Blue Blood?
