6. North Carolina Tar Heels

Judging them by their season alone, the Tar Heels were an average team overall. However, they’re still going to be viewed as one of the biggest disasters in NCAA Basketball history, going from preseason No. 1 to unranked and out of the Big Dance. That’s created a roster reckoning, with six players transferring out.

One of them is Caleb Love, who has recently landed with the Michigan Wolverines. A good case can be made that the starting guard didn’t work out next to RJ Davis and that it’s addition-by-subtraction for the Tar Heels. That being said, the “punching bag” and source of the blame for the team are now gone. So all eyes are on Coach Hubert Davis, who could go from a national title appearance to the hot seat with the fan base if the Tar Heels don’t make it back to the NCAA Tournament.

The good news is that the team returns its two best players in RJ Davis and Armando Bacot, one of the best players in all of NCAA Basketball. They’ve recently landed Brown transfer Paxson Wojcik, who offers depth in the backcourt. They still have several pieces to add before having a clear-cut top-25 roster. With the excuse (Love) out of the way, the team has none going forward to building a good team.
