2022-23 season stats: 14.5 ppg, 10.3 rpg, 2.7 bpg

The guard duo of Judah Mintz and Joe Girard got most of the attention at Syracuse this past season but the big man from the Netherlands quietly averaged a double-double in his best season yet. The senior center had at least five games with 20+ points, including a 27-point and 20-rebound performance against Wake Forest.

Edwards also was named to the All-ACC defensive team after a second straight season with nearly three blocks per game. It’s a product of playing in a 2-3 zone and having guards that weren’t good at preventing penetration on the perimeter. Still, the 6’11 center is one of the top two-way frontcourt players in the entire portal.

With Timme gone, Reid in the portal, and former top-60 prospect Kaden Perry still dealing with a long-term back issue, the center position is wide open. Edwards would come in and be a top option for the Bulldogs and have a great chance at getting back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years.

Right now, Gonzaga is one of three teams in the mix for Edwards, along with Kansas and West Virginia. Reportedly, the Mountaineers are hosting the big man and are viewed as a favorite to land him. If not, the Bulldogs could have the chance if he remains available after this weekend.
