St. John’s Basketball transfer target – Jordan Dingle (Penn)

Oral Roberts guard Max Abmas has gotten all of the attention as the elite scorer in the transfer portal but there is another perimeter player who averaged even more this past season. Dingle, who started 72 games in the past three years, was second in the country with 23.4 ppg, shooting 46% from the field and 36% from three-point range.

Dingle was in double figures in every single game, including 37 points against La Salle on 6/12 shooting from three-point range. The 6’3 guard was not only explosive as a scorer but efficient as well from all three levels. He instantly became one of the top options for teams needing a guard and St. John’s was among them.

The advantage that the Red Storm has is that Dingle hails from Valley Stream, New York. That’s less than a 30-minute drive from where the University resides, a major selling point in Coach Pitino’s favor.

The Red Storm hasn’t made that big splash as of yet but landing Dingle would be a major move. He’d become the focal point of the offense and a quality guard that the program hasn’t had in a while. The next week is a pivotal one for the St. John’s Basketball offseason and if things go their way, they might be top-25 good for the 2023-24 campaign.
