Texas Tech Basketball transfer target – Warren Washington (Arizona State)

The good news for Texas Tech is that they didn’t miss out on the Hunter Dickinson sweepstakes because they were never in it. The bad news is that regardless, they’re still in heavy need of a starting center for next season. Not only has Fardaws Aimaq transferred out but Daniel Batcho, who started games for the team while Aimaq was injured, also left.

That currently leaves the Red Raiders with freshman forward Robert Jennings as the starting five-man and he’s anything but a center. The recent run of centers taken off the transfer market leaves them with not too many options. But one that’s set to visit them is Washington, who started all 34 games at Arizona State, averaging 9.2 ppg and 6.9 rpg.

The 7’0 center was also effective during his two years at Nevada and has proven that he’s a solid starter at the power conference level. Washington had 17 double-digit scoring games, including a season-high 21 points and eight rebounds against USC. He’s an underrated shot-blocker and interior defender as well, blocking 60 shots in 34 games.

Texas Tech is one of two programs in the mix to land Washington, with TCU being the other. But the Horned Frogs have already landed Coastal Carolina transfer big man, Essam Mostafa this offseason. So if playing time is the biggest selling point for the former Sun Devil, look for the Red Raiders to have a strong shot here.
