Big East Basketball: How each 2023 NBA draftee will fit with their new teams
By John Makuch
3. Mavericks, No. 24 Olivier-Maxence Prosper
Not long after Whitmore, Olivier-Maxence Prosper heard his name called for the Sacramento Kings, but this pick was traded to the Dallas Mavericks along with Richaun Holmes. Dallas also traded back to get Derek Lively II, and they added in Prosper to give themselves a couple of very solid rookies.
Draft pick trades were quite the recurrence yet again this year, and the Mavericks made this move to get a guy that made his rise up draft boards throughout the combine. Prosper is an athletic wing who can score in a variety of ways with a solid jump shot for a 6’8, 230 20-year-old with a huge wingspan.
The Mavericks needed help after missing the playoffs with Luka Doncic running the show, and they got aggressive by acquiring this pick and taking the Big East Champion Prosper. He will fit right into this unit with Doncic and Kyrie Irving, with Prosper being a guy that brings energy, the will to win, and an all-around game that this team is going to love.
Having a player like him in your rotation can be a missing piece for a team that looks to make a push to the postseason, Doncic has shown he can lead a team deep into the postseason, now with talent around him, we will see what Prosper’s role is in that push down in Dallas.
