Indiana Hoosiers

After landing Mackenzie Mgbako, Coach Mike Woodson and Indiana look to start a run of five-star pickups. They’re looking for a big class since there could be a number of departures as well. But in order to make this fit work, then Malik Reneau, another former five-star recruit, likely would have to depart.

Otherwise, there would be a logjam with Newell when he would arrive there. Plus, it’s not clear if Mgbako can play the wing or has to play more at the power forward spot. This is a spot where the Hoosiers’ new roster would have to play out on paper in order to see which positions are of need in the 2024 class.

Texas Longhorns

The Longhorns have been building on the roster for next season but also have to get the 2024 class going too. Power forward is a definite need for the program since Dylan Disu will be gone after next season. The only other four-men are UTEP transfer Ze’Rik Onyema and backup forward, Alex Anamekwe.

Texas recently landed Devon Pryor, a former class of 2024 wing that moved up in order to play next season. They don’t need Newell to do the same but landing him would be a nice first move for Coach Rodney Terry and his first official recruiting class to reload in the frontcourt.
