CAA Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
12. Vasa Pusica
Originally from Serbia, Pusica is a 6’5 point guard who began his collegiate career on the west coast at San Diego. He was a minor contributor early for the Toreros and decided to transfer after his sophomore season. After sitting out due to transferring, Pusica began play at Northeastern in 2017 and had quite the impact in his final two seasons.
Pusica averaged 17.9 points and 5.1 assists per game as a junior, wasting no time becoming a massive part of the Huskies program. He had multiple 30-point performances late in the season, helping the Huskies to a CAA regular season title, though they came up just short in the CAA Tournament. That would not happen again in 2019, as he’d drop 21 points on Hofstra in the title game to make the NCAA Tournament. Another season with fantastic offensive numbers this time would end in the Big Dance.
Choosing to come to Northeastern brought everything together for Pusica. He was named First Team All-CAA in those final two seasons and nabbed CAA Tournament MVP honors as a senior. He was a solid shooter and was among the conference’s leaders in assists and several other categories and metrics in his career. Pusica played great when it mattered most for the Huskies and certainly was a major reason why they made that trip to the Big Dance.
