CAA Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
11. Jarrell Brantley
Brantley is a 6’7 forward from Columbia, South Carolina who experienced quite the level of success at the College of Charleston. His entire four-year career came in the Cougars’ frontcourt and he certainly made sure he’d be remembered in CAA lore.
He was an impactful presence on both sides of the ball, averaging 11.7 points and 7.3 rebounds already as a freshman. Brantley would rack up the double-doubles during his career, and helped get the Cougars to the NIT as a sophomore. He put up three straight double-doubles in the CAA Tournament in 2018 before dropping 24 points in a first round Tourney loss to Auburn. As a senior, he averaged 19.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game in a 24-win season for Charleston.
Brantley was CAA Rookie of the Year and the rare player to earn All-CAA honors for all four years in college. He was honored many times by the league, landing on the All-Defense team once and All-CAA Tournament team three times, making quite the impact with the Cougars in the process. He was one of the league’s top rebounders for his entire career and finished 4th in scoring as a senior. Charleston won a lot of games with him on campus securing that frontcourt.
