Horizon League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
17. Marques Warrick
Warrick is a 6’2 guard from Lexington, Kentucky who has become a part of the Northern Kentucky basketball program in recent years. He began play with the Norse right after the pandemic and has been an important part of the backcourt for the last three seasons.
A major contributor right away, Warrick averaged 15.8 points a game as a freshman, also hitting 36% of his 3-pointers and accumulating a ton of 20-point performances. As a sophomore, he helped lead the Norse to a 20-win season. He’d put up 45 points against Tennessee Tech early in his junior season, but it was the end that stood out. He’d average 18.8 points per game for the senior but over 20 a game during the Horizon League Tournament, helping take the Norse to the NCAA Tournament.
Horizon League Rookie of the Year in 2021, Warrick has earned All-Horizon honors in his first three years in the league. He was named the Horizon League Tournament MVP for that inspiring effort in this most recent postseason and became one of the conference’s top scorers in the process. His 3-point shooting has been solid and he’s contributed all over the court for the Norse, playing point guard for much of the recent seasons. He’ll be back next season for a fourth year at Northern Kentucky with more postseason success on his mind.
