NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 8 teams for top-50 SG Austin Swartz
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
The rebuilding ACC program has a few guards to work with, including Tony Sanders Jr. and Julian Roper. There’s definitely a need for more talent for new coach Shrewsberry to work with Swartz would be able to come in and not only start but be a focal point offensively as soon as he arrives. The only issue would be whether Notre Dame would be able to be good enough to compete in the league.
UConn Huskies
The Huskies already have a pair of 2024 commits in Isaiah Abraham and Ahmad Nowell, and now looking for a shooting guard. They’re going to lose Rutgers transfer Cam Spencer and could be without incoming five-star prospect, Stephon Castle. If UConn doesn’t get top-30 target Nassir Cunningham then Swartz would be the ideal new commitment for the Big East program.
Virginia Tech Hokies
Virginia Tech has one of the best offensive backcourts in NCAA Basketball but will lose one of them after next season in two-guard Hunter Cattoor. Sean Pedulla could also leave after his fourth year as well, leaving the likes of Rodney Rice and Michael Collins around.
This is another option where Swartz can get early minutes and the Hokies under Coach Mike Young is one of the better offensive systems in the sport. After already losing Grant Basile and Justyn Mutts, the Hokies are set for a new era. It’s a chance for Swartz to be the face of it.
